Dr. Bajaj started his Endocrinology specialty clinical practice in Brampton in 2009 after completing his clinical fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio, USA). Dr. Bajaj’s medical education was at Maulana Azad Medical College(New Delhi, India), following which he attained a Masters of Public Health (MPH, major in Epidemiology) at State University of New York in Albany (New York, USA).
Dr. Bajaj has been involved with teaching Endocrinology fellows at McMaster University on techniques of neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules. He has been an active participant volunteering in diabetes programs and initiatives of Canadian Diabetes Associationand was elected to its Clinical & Scientific Section (C& SS) Executive as a councilor in October 2014.
Dr. Bajaj has pioneered “real-life” practical approaches to research in diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular risk assessment. He has co-authored publications in key medical journals such as Nature Publishing Group’s Obesity journal and Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA). He has an interest in ethnicity-based research with a focus on diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases in South Asian community. He has developed and presented numerous lectures including a Morning talk show at the recent Canadian Diabetes Association annual conference 2014 on this topic. He was the winner of theDavid Axelrod Award for Excellence in Research at the State University of New York in Albany for his research study titled “Asian Indians- large but not obese” comparing abdominal adiposity markers and cardiovascular risk factors between Asian Indian and U.S. Populations. With the intent of improving awareness around diabetes prevention and management in the community, Dr. Bajaj has founded a not-for-profit organization “STOP Diabetes” Foundation in 2013.
By way of his work in the clinic setting, public awareness efforts, CME lectures to specialist and family practice colleagues, research activities as well as through advisory to the health ministry, Dr. Bajaj is committed to improving the provision of diabetes and endocrine related health care in Canada.
